Does physical therapy treat back pain?

The results of a recently published research revealed that a series of physical therapies used to reduce back pain  are of no more benefit than the evaluation process and advice provided by the physical therapist during one session only.

This research, which was conducted in Britain, tested 286 patients who were suffering from low to moderate back pain for more than 6 weeks.

Some of them received a series of physical treatments provided by the British health system, while the other section received one session with a physical therapist that included an assessment of the patient's condition and some advice.

The development of the two groups was examined after 3 months, 6 months and 12 months.

The results were given according to a gradation of points and developed for special measures to examine the deficit caused by  back pain , and according to the reports of the patients themselves, and after the lapse of 12 months, no difference appeared between the two groups.

Although the patients who received physical therapy praised it and said that the treatment helped them slightly, but in the long term there is no benefit to be gained from these treatments.

There is a need for more in-depth research of other physical therapies before reaching such a conclusion and applying it to all physical treatments.

For example, sports lessons passed on by physical therapists are of great benefit, while hand therapy along the spine has shown no improvement, neither in pain nor even in performance.
